UFC headed to China for show in November

The UFC’s global expansion continued this week when organization official announced the Octagon was set to make its debut in China later this year. The card will mark the UFC’s second Asian offering in 2012 with the other coming in Japan this past February.

The upcoming show, believed to be bound for Fuel TV, will take place on November 10 in Macau. No specific match-ups have been linked to the lineup.

“Breaking into a market with a population of over 1.3 billion is both a testament to the growth of our sport and a long-term challenge we are excited to undertake,” said CEO Lorenzo Fertitta in a statement on the matter. “This is just the first of many world-class fights we plan to hold over the coming years in China, one of the birthplaces of martial arts.”

The only Chinese fighter on the UFC’s roster is Tiequan Zhang. He is coming off a pair of back-to-back losses but is likely destined for the event in Macau given his affiliation with the region.
