Recently, we published a rendering of the 2014 Mazda 3—along with everything we know about next-gen compact—and now digital representations of the car have surfaced online, supposedly from within Mazda. The images (we’ve included one of them above) were anonymously given to Auto Express, and the outlet was told by Mazda U.K. that the renderings came from the company’s design department. It’s worth mentioning at this point that Mazda U.K. also says that the images may not be of the next 3, because they merely are conceptual representations of what the next 3 could look like.
Even though representatives from Mazda U.S.A. wouldn’t comment to us on the Auto Express photos or confirm their veracity, we’re thinking that the images probably aren’t too far off from the real deal. Not only does the car look pretty similar to the rendering we ran, but also it faithfully and realistically translates Mazda’s latest Kodo design language worn by the CX-5 crossover and the new Mazda 6 sedan. Of course, the believability of a rendering and the production, in-the-metal feasibility of the styling presented in a rendering are two different things, but given the new 6’s impressively sculpted and attractive sheetmetal, we think the 3 could pull this off.

We’ll find out soon enough whether the next 3 is this good looking, considering the new model likely will debut in its production wrapper sometime next year. For the rest of the renderings, head over to Auto Express. Read full story »
