British Touring Car team boss Steve Neal believes his Honda drivers Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal are still improving as a pairing.
The Team Dynamics-run works Honda squad confirmed before Christmas that it was keeping 2012 champion Shedden and triple champion Neal in its line-up for the fourth consecutive season in 2013.
Team boss Neal believes the duo, which has finished one-two in the drivers’ standings for the last two seasons, continues to get stronger.
“It’s a no-brainer to keep them,” he said. “It’s a combination that’s still getting stronger.
“Gordon’s older and wiser and now he’s won it I think he’ll be more relaxed.”
Neal also believes that the friendship between the pair has strengthened both drivers’ position with the Japanese manufacturer.
“They’re good mates and get on so well together,” he added. “That’s what Honda likes.”
Honda took a clean sweep of drivers’, manufacturers’ and teams’ titles in 2012, with privateer Honda squad Eurotech also taking both Independents’ crowns with Andrew Jordan and Jeff Smith.
All four are expected to continue with the NGTC Civics in 2013.
