MotoGP will trial its new spec ECU system in a special two-day test at Sepang on February 3-4.
Only the CRT teams that have agreed to adopt the Magneti Marelli equipment will be permitted to run.
The rest of the field will join them at the Malaysian circuit for a further three days of testing starting on February 5.
Teams have the option to run the spec control unit in 2013, although it is set to be made mandatory – with specific exceptions - the following season.
While official tests have been slated twice at Sepang and also at Jerez, Honda has elected to also run at Austin’s new grand prix facility ahead of MotoGP’s April track debut.
Honda is scheduled to travel alone to the Texan facility on March 12-14, although other teams could yet elect to join the Japanese marque.
Last year’s post-season tests were largely washed out, with rain spoiling Valentino Rossi’s return to Yamaha and disrupting Marc Marquez’s attempts to get up to speed with Honda at Sepang.
