Strikeforce fighters affected by recent cancellation to be compensated

Nineteen Strikeforce fighters were left twiddling their thumbs this week when word surfaced stating the organization had cancelled a show scheduled for this weekend as the result of headliner Gilbert Melendez going down with injury. Fortunately, it appears the company is at least taking care of competitors who spent the last few months preparing for not only a fight but a payday as well.

The entire group, minus Melendez, will receive the “show” portion of their contracted rates.

Melendez Apologetic for Withdrawing from Title-Fight

MMAJunkie was first to report Strikeforce’s act of kindness.

“They’re taking care of us and it must be said, I truly appreciate it,” exclaimed Josh Thomson upon hearing the information.

Strikeforce was not required to pay anything but did so anyway. All fighters are expected to be rebooked on upcoming events.
