After scoring a solid strike-based stoppage of previously undefeated Stipe Miocic at UFC on Fuel 5, heavyweight Stefan Struve cemented his status as a legitimate threat in the division and apparently answered questions about the durability of his jaw as well. The performance capped off a quartet of consecutive wins for the seven-footer with all of the victories involving some form of finish.
Now Struve is ready to move up in the division to potentially challenge for the divisional title at some point in 2013, pointing to Fabricio Werdum as the first name on his list of potential opponents.
“Werdum would be an awesome fight for my next fight. I think I can cope with him on the ground, and I think I can rough him up on the feet,” stated Struve in an interview with MMAJunkie after beating Miocic.

The 16-5-1 Werdum is not currently booked for a bout and has won four of his last five fights including success in both of his Octagon appearances since returning from a stint in Strikeforce. Among the opponents he’s taken out in his career are names like Roy Nelson, Antonio Silva, Gabriel Gonzaga, Brandon Vera, and Fedor Emelianenko.
