On Monday we presented this week’s shifter and asked you to identify the make and model of the vehicle from whence it came. Several of you recognized that this week’s shifter belonged to something right-hand drive and old, and zeroed in on classic British hardware. The first commenter to correctly identify it as a 1968 Jaguar XJ6 was repeat winner crwpitman.
These XJ6 photos are from Jaguar’s original press materials on the car from 1968. We reviewed an XJ6 in our January 1969 issue, and found that the sedan nicely straddled the sport–luxury line—a feat modern Jags still manage quite nicely. The XJ6 was powered by a 245-hp inline-six bolted to either a three-speed automatic or, like the car in these photos, a four-speed manual.
