David Coulthard will compete in this year’s Race of Champions in Bangkok, the event’s organisers announced on Wednesday.
The Scot, who confirmed his retirement from motorsport last week, will get the chance to go out on a high in the Thailand event on December 14-16.
Coulthard will be making his eighth appearance in the Race of Champions, in which he reached the Grand Final at London’s Wembley Stadium in the 2008 event.
“It’s a pleasure to take part,” he said. “The main draw is the camaraderie between the drivers and all the social events outside the cars but the racing is always exciting. In the ROC Nations Cup you never want to let your team-mate down, then you have the individual event.
“Looking at how I got on at Wembley, it seems I do better after I’ve just retired from something. That time I made the final so maybe this year in Bangkok I can finish the job…”
Coulthard joins Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher, Ryan Hunter-Reay and retired motorcycle legend Mick Doohan in the line-up.
