Dakar legend Stephane Peterhansel will remain with X-raid for the 2014 event.
The Frenchman won the 2012 and ’13 Dakars in X-raid Minis, taking his tally of victories in the event to 11.
He joined the team in 2010 after Mitsubishi ended its factory programme, driving BMWs for two years before resuming his winning run when X-raid launched its Mini effort.
Although the Red Bull buggies of Carlos Sainz and Nasser Al-Attiyah were expected to set the Dakar pace this year, Peterhansel ended up taking one of his most dominant victories yet in the more reliable Mini.
The 47-year-old said the reliability of the X-raid Mini package made the decision to re-sign easy.
“The reliability of the Mini All4 Racing is virtually unique,” Peterhansel said.
“In two Dakar rallies, we didn’t encounter a single technical problem, not only thanks to the very good car but also because of the entire team that is doing an extremely professional job.
“Despite heat, sand and the massive pressure, everybody works flawlessly. Only this approach enabled us to prevail against competitors who enjoyed regulation advantages.”
