Miguel Molina will continue to race with Audi in the DTM after being confirmed as the eighth driver of the manufacturer’s line-up for 2013.
The Spanish driver’s position at Audi was in doubt after the German carmaker announced seven of its eight drivers in December last year and excluded Molina, saying he had left the DTM squad.
On Monday, however, Audi announced that Molina, the only Spanish driver to have finished on the podium in the DTM, will stay on for the upcoming season after all.
Audi also announced that Rahel Frey will not be part of its DTM line-up, instead switching to Audi’s GT programme.
“I’m convinced that in 2013 we’ll be on the grid with an extremely strong line-up – perhaps the strongest one ever since Audi started competing in the DTM,” says said Audi boss Wolfgang Ullrich.
The announcement means that, apart from Frey’s exit and Jamie Green’s arrival, Audi’s line-up will remain unchanged for the season that kicks off at Hockenheim on May 5.
