Most injured fans leave hospital

Kyle Larson crash, Daytona NASCAR Nationwide 2013All bar two of the 14 Daytona spectators hospitalised after Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race incident have now been released.

The remaining two are still in a stable condition at Halifax Health.

The injuries were sustained when Kyle Larson’s Chevrolet flew into the debris fence in a last-lap pile-up on Saturday.

His car’s engine went through the fence while a wheel landed in the grandstand.

Two of the injured were in a critical condition at first, with one sustaining life-threatening injuries.

But both were upgraded to ‘stable’ status by Sunday morning.

A further 14 people were treated on site at the Daytona medical centre.
