Last year’s winner Michael Shank Racing completed testing for the 2013 Daytona 24 Hours on top after leading both Sunday sessions.
Michael Valiante set the fastest lap of the three-day test on Sunday morning, and then went quickest again in the day’s second practice.
That meant MSR’s Riley-Fords topped five of the eight sessions held across the weekend.
The team had a one-two in the morning, with pacesetter Valiante’s 1m42.058s setting the test’s benchmark. Valiante was nearly 0.6 seconds quicker than the field in that session, but only 0.024s covered the next four cars.
Starworks’ #2 Riley-Ford was third, as Saturday leader Sahlen took fourth in the quickest BMW-powered car.
Spirit of Daytona led the Corvette contingent in fifth.
Ganassi’s #01 car, which Grand-Am champions Memo Rojas and Scott Pruett share with Charlie Kimball and Juan Pablo Montoya, was second behind MSR’s #6 in the concluding session.
Starworks’ Sebastien Bourdais/Ryan Dalziel/Allan McNish/Alex Popow entry was third again, followed by the new 8 Star team’s Corvette – the car in which Anthony Davidson is making his comeback after his 2012 Le Mans injury.
