VW Introduces Fancier Beetle “Exclusive” Models for Europe

The Volkswagen Beetle was conceived and developed mainly for the U.S. market, but that doesn’t mean that Europe takes a back seat when it comes to new ideas and additions of the lineup. VW has just announced “Exclusive” trims for Continental-market coupes and convertibles that will sit atop the Beetle’s “Design” and “Sport” models in the lineup.

Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet Exclusive Profile

Exclusive Beetles include 18-inch wheels as standard; the optional 19-inch wheels have white or black accents. The interior is distinguished by special, beautifully executed diamond-quilted leather available in beige, brown, or black. The door inserts are finished in black vinyl, and there are specific floor mats, stainless-steel door sills with “Exclusive” lettering, and front sport seats. Leather wraps the steering wheel, shift knob, center armrest, and handbrake lever.

The Exclusive treatment can be applied to cars with Sport or Design levels of standard equipment, and all can be spec’d with a variety of diesel and gas engines. The more powerful options—160- and 200-hp turbo fours are restricted to Sport coupes and cabrios, however.

The “Exclusive” moniker is applied to a range of VW vehicles with uplevel and occasionally, as here, bespoke features; the program used to be known as “Individual.” The packages are developed by the same team that works on VW’s R-Line models, but where we sometimes see those cars on our shores, the “Exclusive” models won’t cross the ocean.
