Renault Clio Cup champion Jack Goff will test a British Touring Car for the first time this week with Tony Gilham’s squad.
The 21-year-old won the 2012 title in the BTCC-supporting Clio Cup with Team Pyro and is now looking to graduate to touring cars.
He will drive Gilham’s recently acquired NGTC Vauxhall Insignia, which ran under the Team Hard banner at Brands Hatch’s season finale, at Silverstone’s National circuit on Thursday.
“I’ve been helping Tony with his scholarship and he asked me if I wanted to drive the touring car,” said Goff. “It’s a dream come true.
“We’re trying hard to get a deal for next year – it’s a big step up in terms of finances and we’re working to get more support.”
Gilham, who ran a number of drivers in his S2000 Honda Civic during 2012, said: “We’re looking to put together a deal with him for next year.
“We’d like to reward Jack for his success in Clios. He wants step up to do touring cars and we like to help young talent so it’s a perfect fit.”
The last Clio Cup champion to step up to the BTCC was 2010 winner Dave Newsham, who scored two touring car victories last season.
