MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 9, 2013) - Blake Koch and SR2 Motorsports are excited about returning to an intermediate speedway. Koch’s last performance at a 1.5-mile track was at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where he took the checkered flag in 21st place. Having learned several lessons since his first outing, Koch is ready to demonstrate the improvements his team has made to its program since March in Friday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300.

Koch has two top-25s in four Nationwide Series starts at Texas. His best finish is 22nd place, which came in 2011.

SR2 Motorsports’ best finish at Texas came last season with David Starr behind the wheel. He piloted the No. 24 Toyota to a 23rd-place finish.

Koch discusses this Friday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway:

“We had a pretty good run at Las Vegas, especially considering it was our first intermediate track of the season. I know that we really learned a lot. We had a good baseline, but we’ve made several tweaks and changes to our package and I think they’re going to make a big difference. Texas is a really fast track and aero is crucial, so any changes, no matter how small they are, can be a big deal.

“Texas is really, really bumpy. Your car shakes a lot, especially over the tunnel. The surface is super-rough, too. After a few laps, your tires are torn up. That makes for a fun race. There’s going to be some slipping and sliding for sure. The groove has widened out a lot. The bottom line isn’t necessarily the only way around the track. You can run your car high or low, depending on where it wants to go.

“I had a great Easter and it was nice to get a break, but I’m ready to go back racing. It’s seemed like forever since I’ve been behind the wheel. Texas is going to be a lot of fun. Night races are always great. I can see why the fans love them so much. You see sparks fly when cars make contact and everything looks so shiny under the lights. They’re just cool events.”
