Shedden makes session despite fire

Gordon Shedden, Honda, fire, Snetterton 2012British Touring Car title contender Gordon Shedden will start Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session at Snetterton despite a fire in free practice.

Shedden was second fastest in free practice one with his works Honda Civic when he came into the pitlane with his car on fire. An aluminium union at the end of the fuel rail had failed, allowing fuel to spill out and catch fire.

The Scot missed second practice, but team boss Steve Neal expects him to qualify well.

“I’m impressed with the boys 0 the thing to do was to tell them it can’t be done!” said Neal.

“He’ll just have to go carefully, but I expect him to qualify in the top 10.”

Shedden is currently second in the championship, one point behind team-mate Matt Neal.
