SOUTH BOSTON, Virginia (August 15, 2012) – - After spending the last couple of years tackling the Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series on a limited basis, John Gibson and his John Gibson Motorsports (JGM) team will take the next leap in their Motorsports endeavors by joining the Pro All Star Series (PASS) tour this weekend at South Boston (Va.) Speedway.

Thanks to support from longtime marketing partner, Mitigator, the duo will head to America’s Hometown Track and look for a gasping performance in Saturday night’s Southern Virginia 150.

The Statesville, North Carolina native knows that while he’s be considered new meat, he hopes that his devotion behind the wheel of the No. 13 Mitigator Ford Fusion will erase any theory of being taken lightly. Instead, Gibson is vowing to prove that his family-owned team is coming prepared to battle and won’t race quietly into the night.

“We’re really looking forward to joining the Pro All Star Series this weekend at South Boston,” said the 28-year old Gibson. “We’re not coming to the track to race in the back; we’re going there to show everyone what we’re made of. We may be small in number – but we’re hoping to show that size doesn’t matter on Saturday night.”

Gibson added, “As a team, we can’t set the bar too high in our first race. I would say if we could go to South Boston and run competitively and have a shot at a top-10 run, we would be happy. We know that without our marketing partner, Mitigator that none of this would be possible.”

MitiGator is an engineered cushioning system designed to protect people from hi-speed, hi-impact assaults and to allow them to continue to perform their jobs or enjoy their leisure time.

“MitiGator has been a part of our racing family for a long time and no words can describe the gratefulness we have to them for sticking with us and more importantly standing proudly behind us. We finished eighth in our last race with them at Caraway (N.C.) Speedway in the Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series. I know the competition will literally be night and day – but I’m hoping the finish we bring home will be something everyone will be proud of and more importantly, something we can build on moving forward.”

Practice for the Southern Virginia 150 kicks off on Saturday, August 18th at 2:00 p.m. with qualifying to follow at 4:30 p.m. After a brief on-track autograph session, the event will take the green flag shortly after 7:00 p.m. for 150 laps of tight short track racing action.
