Gilham replaces sick Stockton

Tony Gilham, Thorney Motorsport, 2012Tony Gilham will replace Chris Stockton in Thorney Motorsport’s Vauxhall Insignia at the Silverstone rounds of the British Touring Car Championship.

Stockton made his series comeback during Silverstone qualifying, going 21st fastest in the 24-car grid.

But Stockton is now ill and Gilham, who raced the car at Snetterton earlier in the season, will step in for the three races.

“He’s feeling unwell,” said Gilham, who will start from the back for race one. “I’ve driven the car before and the organisers are happy for me to start.

“I’m never one to miss an opportunity and I’m happy to be back on track.”

It will be the second time this season that Gilham has raced against his own S2000 Honda Civic, which is being driven at Silverstone by Howard Fuller.
