Post Race Highlights:

· Denny Hamlin qualified his No. 18 Dollar General Camry eighth for Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 200 lap Nationwide Series event.

· Hamlin settled in to race in the seventh position throughout the first run of the Dollar General 300, reporting that the No. 18 DG Toyota was tight in the center and on the exit of the turns.

· The Dollar General crew made adjustments on their first pit stop under green on lap 53, and Hamlin was among the fastest on the track once the field cycled through the round of green flag pit stops. By lap 81, he had entered the top-five for the first time of the night.

· A two-tire stop on lap 83 allowed Hamlin to restart at the front of the field on lap 87. A couple of quick cautions would result in a couple of quick restarts, and once the race went green for an extended period, Hamlin would drop back to run in the sixth position as tight conditions returned to his No. 18 Camry.

· A great stop by the Dollar General crew gained Hamlin three spots on pit road and allowed him to restart third with 64 laps to go. Tight conditions remained, however.

· A final quick stop for two-tires and a splash of fuel under green allowed for one more adjustment, and Hamlin managed to bring it home with a solid fifth place finish.

“We just tried anything we could to get some track position. It was so hard to pass out there that you just had to do everything you could. We tried short-pitting at the end. We tried two tires in the middle of the race. Just anything we could and we ended up right where we belonged in fifth.”
